New Videos for Moms

Want to know what the roller derby, racing, and bathing suits have to do with losing weight after baby?  Check out the new video pages on my website LosingWeightAfterBaby.com  I hope you’ll enjoy these video tips for losing weight, many of which include my accountability group (my toddler and baby!).

Speaking of video, have you taken any videos or photos of yourself recently?  If not, I would highly encourage you to do so.  As you lose your desired weight in the next few weeks and months, you’ll want an old photo to compare to.  I know the thought of taking a photograph may be about as appealing as a root canal, but you’ll thank me down the road when you have great before and after pictures.

Today’s Action Step:  Take a picture of yourself if you don’t have a recent one.  Mark it with the date and use it as motivation to lose weight in coming weeks and months.  Fill in this sentence for yourself:  When I take another picture 3 months from now, I will weigh ____ lbs.

Help My Child Swallowed a Coin

Yes, this weekend, my 3-year-old who we thought for sure knew better swallowed a coin.  Here’s what happened:

He was playing at grandpa’s house and they had all sorts of coins out pretending they were cookies.  They pretended to bake them and eat them (yes, you see where this is going).  In a flash, Ethan had put either a nickel or quarter in his mouth and swallowed.  He didn’t choke or anything.  My dad couldn’t believe he had done it.  It happened so fast which leads me to think it was a nickel, cause how do you down a quarter???

It’s been two days and we haven’t seen the coin on the flip side (ha ha).  Ethan seems totally normal.  Any advice out there from moms who have had this experience?  How long did it take for the coin to come out?  The doctor says it could be 1-2 weeks.  I’d love to have your advice!

Hot Tip for Moms:  No matter how hungry you are, don’t eat money.

New Year’s Resolution Check Up

easy-way-hard-way375.jpg

How are you doing with your New Year’s resolution? Chances are, your goals have something to do with losing your baby weight, eating healthier and exercising more in 2008. Here are a few questions to get you going again if you’re starting to lose steam (or if you lost it by the first week of January):

Is losing weight important to you?

Why is it important to you?

Do you have specific action steps written down about your goal weight? How successful have you been so far?

Do you have someone to hold you accountable? If not, who will you ask?

What do you need to do differently to lose your goal weight by a reasonable date?

Hot Tip Moms: Tap into a constant source of motivation to keep your dreams from dying. Make a collage with pictures of your goals or write out a list and post it in your bathroom. Ask a friend to keep you accountable twice a month to your weight loss goals by asking how you are doing.

Time for New Years Goals!

So I’m at my family’s house for Christmas and have already enjoyed chocolate truffles, almond pound cake, sweet potato pie…do I need to go on?

Christmas is a grand time of celebration as it should be, but come New Years, there will be a few pesky pounds to deal with no doubt. Now is the time to set your goals for the New Year. How many pounds will you lose? By what date? What is your doable plan? Jump start your goal setting by listening to my podcast about goals and losing weight at http://www.losingweightafterbaby.com

Hot Tip Moms: Be specific with your New Years resolutions. Make up a doable plan for weight loss (i.e. I will walk every Wednesday for 45 minutes, eat desserts once a week instead of everyday). Reward yourself when you reach your goals.
