Day 13 – Shopping Light

shopping-cart-oranges-400The key to losing weight isn’t necessarily winning the eating war at home.  You win the war at the grocery store! 

When you’re walking down the aisles, temptations will assail you on every side!  Cookies down one aisle.  Chips on sale.  Chocolate covered somethings taunting you.  French bread hot out of the oven.  How can you side step these land mines safely?

Here are a few tips:

  1. Don’t go shopping when you’re hungry
  2. Bring healthy snacks along for you and your kids to avoid buying that candy bar or bag of chips at the checkout.
  3. Always shop with a list.
  4. Shop the perimeter of the store (produce, milk, poultry, etc)
  5. Choose grocery stores with good prices for produce, fish and chicken
