Day 15 – Say Goodbye to Emotional Eating

donut-400The baby is crying.  Your other children are whining.  You are tired.  What do you do? 

If you reach for something sweet to eat, you’re not alone.  It’s so easy to grab something yummy when you feel stressed, tired, frustrated, sad or bored.  But all that emotional eating leads to unwanted pounds.  My friend likes to say “Every pound is an unshed tear.”  Can you relate?

What are some positive things you can do instead of eating when you need a pick me up?  You can try:

  1. Going for a walk 
  2. Jumping jacks for 1 minute – it will help you let off some steam
  3. Listening to a favorite song
  4. Reading a book you enjoy
  5. Praying
  6. Journaling
  7. Online shopping – that might lead to other problems!
  8. Watching a favorite movie or TV show
  9. Chewing gum
  10. Singing

Before you dive into a carton of ice cream or bag of chips, stop yourself.  Call a friend.  Do something listed above.  Be creative and find other ways to pick yourself up when you need a little boost.
