Day 16 – Rewards and Consequences

vert-thumbs-upMy four year old has a sticker chart.  When he earns enough stickers, he gets to pick out a racecar.  It’s a great incentive to share with his sister, make his bed, do things around the house without being asked, etc.  Rewards work great with kids and they work magic for adults too!

What kind of rewards are waiting for you when you arrive at your goal weight?  If you can’t think of any besides sheer satisfaction, you need to come up with some tangible rewards!  When you want to quit, you can think of that reward and press on! 

My husband really wanted me to lose the baby weight, so some weeks, he’d offer a five minute massage whenever I worked out.  That was great!  When I reached my goal weight, I got to go shopping in my new size. 

What would motivate you?  Talk to your husband about reasonable, fun rewards when you reach your goal weight. 

On the flip side, what happens when you cheat?  If the answer is nothing, then it’s pretty easy to cheat!  Have a consequence – maybe 50 sit ups before bedtime if you mess up during the day.  Like rewards, consequences are effective too!
