Day 26 – Keep the Home Fires Burning


This picture was taken more than 10 years ago.  When we were engaged, we thought it would be so funny to come out this way for our family photo with my parents!  

We got great advice when we were engaged…  “Never let the honeymoon end.”  Of course, when you’re engaged and very emotionally charged and connected, that sounds very easy to do!  But then the years go by, a few children come into the picture, and your relationship can drift apart or become more business-like.  My sweet husband and I have tried during all our years together to appreciate and love each other with the same kindness and passion that we did when we were dating. 

Part of keeping that romance alive has to do with losing weight after baby.  Your husband wants to be attracted to you.  That doesn’t mean you have to look like a super model.  But I agree with author Dr. Willard Harley (His Needs, Her Needs) that it means looking like the woman your husband married.  As you do your best to look attractive and shed those pregnancy pounds, your husband will be so grateful. 

BTW, do you think it’s a fair request for your husband to desire your pre-pregnancy body?  (I understand everything doesn’t go back exactly like it used to, but I’m talking about a similar weight and size, even if some parts have shifted around!)
